NAFTA ruined my home town in Michigan. It ruined several towns in Michigan actually. It took my mothers job of 28 yrs and she had to retire early... which really screwed her financially.
It turned my home town of sturgis michigan into a little mexico. Its pathetic.
NAFTA was one of the worst things in the history of our nations decline. Worst.

N.A.F.T.A. has not lost any jobs. It has only gained jobs. However, since the unconstitutional enactment of that law under the Clinton administration, there has been approximately one factory or 1000 jobs a day lost to N.A.F.T.A. That would equate to roughly 2.5 million jobs during that administration. Naturally in seven years a great number of those jobs fell off the unemployment rolls as their benefits ran out, so the the liberal hype could boast that the percentage was lower than it really was. Don't get me wrong, it is still bad. Don't forget, when your benefits runs out the unemployment bureau thinks you must have gotten a job. That way they don't have to count you.

You could just as easily ask how many jobs has N.A.F.T.A created on both sides of the border. Historically, the worlds largest trading nations are also the worlds most prosperous - this is certainly no coincidence.
I respectfully suggest you take an economics class or read a book by Milton Freedman. I think it would help to expand your horizons.

Why is it that Clinton continues to get hammered for NAFTA when the treaty was negotiated by the administration of Bush 41? It also had stronger support among republicans than democrats.
If you want to criticize NAFTA then fine, it's fair game. However if you want to criticize the administration responsible for it, go after the right target.

I happen to live in a city which is the door for latin america trade, the port here, a very important port in the south east is always packed up with ships leaving the cargo they bring from their countries, it's sad to see all the imports are made in south america thanks to N.A.F.T.A. and Bill Clinton BS, our industry moved south for cheap workmanship, it's a shame..âº

I don't know exactly how many US jobs were lost but, I do know that there were several in that border cities in Texas. N.A..F.T.A. has really been more of headache than anything else. Living in South Texas and seeing their trucks and pollution is one of the biggest headaches.

Im glad you acknowleged that NAFTA happened under Clinton.
My Governor Jennifer Granholm accused her opponent Dick DeVos of supporting NAFTA when low and behold Granholm endorsed John Kerry who voted for NAFTA.
