You seem quite articulate for a developmentally disabled person. Are you sure you don't have high functioning autism? Sometimes HFA is misdiagnosed as mental retardation. I believe that a lot of what is called mental illness, mental retardation, autism, etc, is a social problem rather than a medical problem. That is, there is nothing that needs "healing", you're fine the way you are. Instead, society needs to learn to accept different kinds of people, and differently abled people need to learn to focus on their strengths, compensate for their weaknesses, and accept themselves as they are.
I am not a Christian, but I was raised Christian. I've been thru many attempts to "heal" me, even "exorcise" me. Turns out I have Asperger's Syndrome, a form of high functioning autism, and my difficult behaviors and thoughts were a response to society trying to make me hate myself as I am, and force me to be like everyone else. Now I am a panthiest, I believe that God is everywhere and in everything and far bigger than the god of any creed, and I know that God made me just like I am for good reasons. So I no longer worry about being different from everyone else, I just aim to be the best person I can be.

Why would you want to be healed from this. You have one of the best life situations in America. I would say that since I know several people with retardation and I also worked at a group home that you are probably set for life. You don't have any requirements or serious responsibilities, you can pretty much do what you want to do, and people like you get to bowl, go to football games, and movies and you don't even have to pay for this. You get better than normal medical care, and never have to cook or clean up after yourselves. I would say don't worry, enjoy your support staff, since you are sort of like a king and have fun. PS. I believe this question is a put on because that was an impressive paragraph for a retarded individual.

People say, just have faith, they say he will heal you.. he is capable of all things. I have mental illness.. bi-polar, and I have yet to be fully healed of it again. I've had it for a long, long time, and it seems like the Lord will only heal me if I go through hell to get there. (That is what I think anyways), just a guess on my part. So who knows.. I think in a lot of ways, this life is supposed to suck.. it's not supposed to be all happy, and warm and well, and just a bed of roses. We die, we go through horrors, torture, and trials.. we go through pain, judement.. it's not all happy, everything is alright for anyone in my opinion.. there is no hope for people who God won't heal, period, and although this is a very very hard concept for me to even begin to accept, God is not going to heal alot of people in this life, because he has a purpose for them. It suck, it's horrible, but that's what he wants I guess, and there is not a damn thing we can do about it period. i'm sorry to break this to you, and i'm sorry to have this come to you. it's not happy news, and it's not great news, in fact it's horrible news. People keep say have faith, have faith.. your faith will make you well!! all of that. Well, it will not if the Lord will not heal you, so get over, and move on. If it sucks, then just remind yourself as much as you can that God is good, and he's not an evil huge monster, or a horrible father, or careless, or Satan for not healing you. Trust me, easier said than done when you suffer as much as i do on a daily bases from this horrible ****.. It's ******* horrible... I can't say enough about that.. it's retarded horrible. I can't do things i want to do, like music, hang out with friends, do anything in public, even talk with people, because it is such a burdon on my mind.. I hate it, and feel as if I hate God, and don't love him, but it is what it is.. also, one day we will die.. we will die, it could be in a car crash, it could be an airplane crash, it could be poisioning, it could be natural causes.. something that causes alot of pain, so prepare yourself now for the future. This life blows *** in so many regards, that its not even funny.. No one will tell you this outright, and will sugarcoat it, but I won't, because it's the truth. LIfe can be a HUGE *****, and then you die. Sorry to let you down brother.

Well, my friend, mental retardation isn't an illness, so it doesn't need healing. It's a condition, just like being tall or short, or having blond or dark hair.
But of course God can give you wisdom. As the Bible teaches us in James 1,
"4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind."
The important thing is to TRUST HIM. Pray to the Father, in Jesus' Name, and HAVE FAITH. He will never let you down.
Blessings to you!

I am not a Christian anymore but i was raised a catholic and they would say that God made you the way you are because he has a special plan for you. So I don't think he will heal you in the way that you want because then his plan wouldn't work. Be strong and remember that your illness does not define who you are.

"Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give" -Matt. 10:8. "Is anything too hard for the Lord?" -Gen. 18:14 "By His stripes we are healed" -Isaiah 53:5. "Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man avails much" -James: 5:16
I know nothing of your illness and I wouldn't dream of belittling you for it. I do know that the Almighty God can and will heal all illness, in the Name of His Son, Jesus Christ. Read the NT. There you'll see that all diseases and illness were healed by Christ according to faith. Place your trust in Jesus Christ and His omnipotent power. The same power which raised the dead. Trust everything the Bible says, especially God's promises. Ask God to fill you with His Spirit and to use you for His glory and purposes. Have Christians who believe in the power of Jesus Christ to heal -today and every day through His Name to the Father- lay hands on you and pray for your healing. Never, ever lose your faith and trust in the goodness and almighty power of God. God can use anyone for His service..
"And all things, whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive" -Matt. 21:22; "Ask, and it will be given unto you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and the door shall be opened unto you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him that knocks it will be opened" -Matt. 7:7, 8
"But even now I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you" -Jn. 11:22
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us" -Eph. 3:20
"But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind" -Jas. 1:6
"Again I say to you that if two or three of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in Heaven" -Matt. 18:19

If you have sufficient faith you will be healed. Ask with a true and faithful heart and ye shall receive. An important fact to remember is that faith without work is dead.

God can do anything. But I think it's doubtful that something like what you ask will be accomplished. It's my belief that there are different forms of healing. I don't mean to be trite, but attitude is everything.

Yes, of course he can. Sometimes he gives Dr.s the skill to do this though. Have you been to many Drs. ? You did not mention what the diagnosis is? Can you provide more information?

Yes God can and definitely wants to heal you if you are sick. Just believe that he can and will and it will happen. Ask him in the name of his son Jesus and it will be done. May you be healed in Jesus name.
