never an easy one, there is no easy way to do this, you will sit infront of him and watch as his face falls and his eyes darken with heartbreak. But...two things...the sooner the better....and the clearer the better.
call him and say, "i want to meet you I want to talk to you about something"
Meet him that day, say "I don't want to go out with you anymore"
there will be at least 3 sometimes more ( if they are desperate or you are a really good catch) denials, resistance will happen. Repeat yourself clearly each time, but do NOT get into the why question.
Then say " I've got to go"
Do not say "we can still be friends" or "let's take a break"
or "it's not you it's me"
Once the heart has healed and you haven't seen them for 6 months, they will smile when they meet you, they will know you are a good person for giving them a nice clean cut!!!

Break Ups are not easy. They suck and believe me I've been through a few. I definitely recommend doing it in person and being kind. But, don't let your guard down because you feel bad. If you want to remain friends and believe it won't be weird or lead the other person on, state it. Don't break up at a restaurant and don't hang out all day and then do it. Go over and talk like an adult. It's better to be honest than to lead another person on. Good luck!

Tell him to his face. There isnt anything more disrespectful then a note, phone call, e-mail...

Be honest. Getting caught in a lie will just end up hurting you more.

Tell him you would still like to stay in touch, and keep your word. Give him time to heal and in a few months, offer to buy him coffee or something.

You simply have to be honest. I wouldn't sugar coat anything, but at the same time, i wouldn't be brutal.

basically let him know how you truly feel. when you talk to him, it'll come out naturally. whatever you do, though, don't break up with him by texting him or emailing him. that is very rude. speak with him and if possible, make it face to face.

Sit him down as soon as you can and talk to him about your feelings. It is better to be open and honest. If he is as good of a guy as you portray him as...he will understand. The sooner the better and remember honesty is the key.

Be honest and just tell him and may be hurt at first but he'll move on... it's just you getting the nerve to do it... but do it soon the longer you wait the more inlove and attached he'll become towards you... good luck!!!

Just tell him you've enjoyed being with him but the romance part just isn't working for you.

It'll be awkward and hard but why waste anymore of your time and his time.
