I guess you can say that an atom is the worlds smallest battery.

It can be claimed that bacteria are batteries.
They have a voltage difference across their membrane.
They use that voltage difference to power things
like electric motors (rotating fibers that they use as propellors
to swim with)
and maintain it with ion pumps fueled by chemical reactions like
burning sugar.
