Anything they associate with you. I am attached to my mothers recipes, photos, music, bibles, and jewelry, because they were a part of who she was. I just wish I had videos of her, ...to hear her voice once again. So again, anything that your children associate with you is good, even if it is something like a tackle box, or hunting riffle, depending on your interests. Your children don't want things, but look to associate things with you. I can walk through a crowd, and smell Tabu or White Shoulders perfume and go wild mentally looking for my mother. This is also the reason I can't chew Juicy Fruit gum, without tears welling in my eyes, even after 27 years. Memories are precious and priceless. Nothing on earth can take your place, but things that remind them of you, and who you are, do bring comfort. Take as many pictures as you can of yourself with your children, and write the each a personal note telling you how much you love them. This alone is priceless. You cannot imagine how much such a gesture would mean, so trust me on this one.

Leave them a knowledge of their genealogy. Let them know who their ancestors were. Where they were from. Try to find journals, or stories that have been passed on. I believe in the phrase: you cant know where your going unless you know where you come from. This isn't always possible, but that's OK. Leave them a personal history, if that's all you can. Your children will want to find things that made you you in them. I have a father that passed away when I was very young, and I know that this i enjoy to learn very much. Even if your children grow old with you, they don't know everything about you. Leave them a legacy.

It depends on their ages. Possessions with sentimental value are great. Personal keepsakes allow the children to cherish memories with you long beyond your life, and can even be passed down to later generations.

jewelry, wedding rings, photos- family albums, quilts (heirloom quilts) a house or property, and really nice old cars like the ones kept away in the garage(old cameros or caddies, fixer upper cars, like the ones your dad keeps hidden away that he says he will do something with someday and you will die if he catches you touching it)
