I developed extremely dry skin after having my thyroid gland removed this past summer. Moisturizing products can be so expensive, but I have been seeing good results using Vasoline moisturizing bath and body oil. Walmart is the only store I have been able to find that carries it. It's very inexpensive, $1.97 for a 8.5 oz bottle, but it really seems to do the trick for me.

One suggestion, if you're a bubble bath lover, as I have been for years, especially if you like to take hot bubble baths, the combination of hot water and the bubble bath solution can wreak havoc on your skin. Over time, it reduces natural body oils. I still take bubble baths, but I use Calgon bubble bath, have lowered the water temperature considerably, and I add some of the Vasoline moisturizing oil to my bath water. Also - really important to remember - when toweling off after you bathe or shower, don't rub, just gently pat yourself dry. Another important step, you need to apply whatever moisturizing product you've chosen to use within three minutes of getting out of the shower or tub.

You might also consider making an appointment with your medical doctor. Some medical conditions cause dry skin (like hypothyroidism). At any rate, I wish you success with this. Dry skin can be really difficult to deal with sometimes.

Here are just a few suggestions; Aveeno Oatmeal Bath, Powdered Milk Bath; After bathing Aveeno Lotion, Baby Oil with Aloe Vera or Jergens or Vaseline Lotion. Drink more water, avoid excessive sun exposure, and extreme temperature changes if possible.

Take a vitamin E supplement daily. Bathe with only lukewarm water. Use products like Aveeno Moisturizing Body Wash and Lotion (look for oatmeal in the ingredients....it works great).

Take Vitamin E tablets. In addition, mix the Vitamin E pure oil
in you lotion before applying to your skin.

OR

Use the A & D ointment

If none of them work, then visit your doctor!

Olay face moisturizer for sensitive skin. It's at wal-mart for like 8 bucks. It took away all my dry/peely skin.

Water is the best medicine there is. If you don't want to do that, you can find some lotions or baby oils tht have Vitamin E.

Baby oil or vaseline. They both feel kinda gross to me, but for SERIOUSLY dry skin, so dry its painful, either one of these would give your skin a great boost quickly.
