I have 2 mouth piercings, my labret (middle under bottom lip) and my lip on the right side. I love them and i'm not taking them off BUT they have messed up my gums alot, i have 2 metal piercings, i'm actually about to change them to a plastic piercing so it dosent do any further damage to them.
I don't know how you can convince you mom, i didn't have too, i just did it out of no where lol, but if you do, DO NOT GET A METAL PIERCING. If you get it professionally done, i suggest you let it heal (about 1 month tops) and then you switch it to a plastic type piercing so it dosen't mess up your teeth or gums.

You might just want to wait until you are older. I got my lip pierced when I was 18 because my mom thought it would be ugly, so I waited till I was old enough to do it with out her permission. She doesn't hate it, but she doesn't love it. The thing about piercings is that you can take them out. Get a clear retainer for work or if you decided you don't want to have your lip ring one day. If you want her to let you get it done now, tell her you will pay, you will get a clear retainer for family events ( if she ends up hating it ) and that you will take it out if it gets infected. Keep it clean if you get it, infection in an area with so much bacteria is very likely. Make sure that you are willing to live with the fact that you will have a scar on your face for the rest of your life. It won't be big, but it will be there, so just make sure that's alright with you. Good luck.

Do not get a lip piercing. It sounds gross. The only thing I have peircings on are my ears and that's 3 earrings in my ears. My daughter had her lip pierced and then she was sorry. She took the earring out finally. I hated it but she was old enough to make her own decisions.

I have my lip pierced, my vertical labret and I love it!! I really do, I've had it for over a year and its never given me any problems!! I would tell your mom that there is no reason why she shouldn't. If you have your nose pierced already, she must be kinda cool and just tell her its your lip and its not hurting anyone, so why not?! If you really want it you're gonna end up getting it anyway, so why should she fight you on it?

I'm sure your piercings look cool now, but have you thought about the possible scarring one day when you're older and may not want a lip ring anymore? Why not get a belly button piercing instead. That is something you may never grow out of wanting, and it will not ever need to be seen by a boss or coworker if you don't want it to.

heh, i kno what ya mean && it wont rly scar, i have alot of friends that had their lip pierced then took it out && the scar isnt noticible unless they point it out.
I have 1 friend that has pierced his lip by himself about 15 different times && keeps on taking it out... yea, i wonder about him sometimes...
But tell her it wont leave any permanent scars && if you get it done professionaly && take good care of it, it wont get infected.
Good luck with convincing your mom, im still trying to convince mine, but im getting ready to use my friends way, cuz seriously, its not her face && im the 1 that has to live with it

hun, it aint worth it. it TOTALLY messes up ur teeth, it gets in the way, and if you get one, then descide to get rid of it, it leaves a bump, which looks like a permanent PiMPLE. i'd recomend not doin it. My sister did that, she got busted AND it left that mark. it did that to her fiance, to, and the girl she had it done with. it always got infected and she said it hurt her teeth.
