Mecuricrome versus Iodine?

Can anyone tell me the difference between Mecuricrome and Iodine OTHER than the color?

So, other than the Poison (Mercury) in Mecurichrome and the cell destruction from Iodine, they are the same?

Mecurochrome is not sold in USA anymore as it contains mercury which is a poison. Iodine does not have mercury in it but it destroys the tissues and prevents healing, so it is not recommended on cuts either.
