I bought one for my dad as a Christmas present, and am just curious as to what you think of automatic/hot air popcorn poppers. Are they worth the money, or just a joke? Please let me know.

I think they are perfect for most men. The men who cannot make home made popcorn. I think most all men use them.
Now, for me? I prefer making the old fashioned kind in a regular pot with melted butter poured on it but you know most guys. They would burn it for sure.
If your dad is not kitchen friendly, then I think it's a great gift for him!

Something else that works real good....there's a popcorn popper you can buy for on the stovetop. You poor your popcorn in, close the lid, and there's a knob you turn at the end of the handle. Does a pretty good job of popping....most of the kernals pop. I guess it's kind of a meet-in-the-middle of the old fashion way of popping, and what an automatic popper does. I like it :o)

They work fine, but I have found that my family prefers the microwave kind, since it is easier. The separate melting butter part can be a problem, and is messier. However, the air poppers are better if you are not supposed to have butter or if you want to put your own stuff on.
