The way we stop our dogs from digging is to lay some hardware cloth down. They don't like the feeling of the wire on their nails and then they stop. You can mow over it just fine. I live in Wisconsin and it even survives the snow

O.k., here are some ways to fix that problem.

Bond with you're dog in regular play and exercise, cause sometimes bulldogs do this because they are bored and lonesome.

If the dog digs because he has been put outside, for a punishment for doing something that seems naughty, that could be why he is digging, he is frustrated about that.

So work with you're vet to get you're dog to gradually accept longer absenses.

If he is digging near the fence it's because he's trying to get out of the yard. Then you should spay or neuter him, so he doesn't do that to try to leave, and of course you wouldn't want him to leave on his own anyway.

Or try putting the fence even with, or deeper into the ground.

The best way to stop any dog from digging is to put some chicken coop wire down. You can anchor it with stakes or rocks. We had to do this for our dog - the idea came from a dog trainer. You can get the chicken coop wire at any home improvement store and it doesn't cost much for a small roll of it.
