I've been on Lamictal for bi-polar disorder for almost 2 months now. I've been really aggressive and hostile lately. Is it from the meds. I've been anxtious and I have been stressed at home and I want to hurt anyone that talks bad towards me. I am not usually like this.

I also flipped out the other day and was on the floor screaming and crying and vomiting. I have been really angry and having panic attacks. I don't know if they are panic attacks, I start breathing really heavy and stare off into space. My doctor is away for a few more weeks and I don't know if I should lower my dose for a while or ask to be taken off it. My doc did say I could lower it if I need to.
What is wrong with me?

It may be a number of things. It's pretty well documented that you get weird effects from lamotrigine (Lamictal) whenever you change the dosage, and if you've only been on it 2 months, you may still be titrating up. Fore some people, this manifests as ultra-rapid cycling (I was cycling several times a day), for others it can be agitation. It could just be that you have yet to settle out on your present dose.

I have also come across people for whom too high a dose caused major agitation and anxiety, so that could be the culprit.

You don't say what dose you are on, but for most people the target dose is 200mg/day, although this can be affected by oral contraception.

It could be the meds, and it could be the bi-polar disorder. The stress alone from dealing with that has to have an adverse affect on you, add to that medication that you're not used to taking....is it any wonder you're having a rough time? I feel so bad for you...

I think if your doctor is away, I would go to the hospital and deal with a doctor there, or deal with another doctor from the same office. You don't deserve to spend the next few weeks in hell-and your doctor will completely understand if you seek assistance from another qualified health care prfoessional in his absence. I wouldn't quit the meds though....

I'm on that as well... however I'm on 2 other meds combined with it.

Get to an emergency room (They always tell me that when my doc is awa) and get them to adjust the meds or try new ones or have you on something to calm you down until you can see your regular doctor.
