The airbag light is on because there is a problem in the airbag system somewhere. If could be a bad sensor, or on that car is could be the clock spring in the steering column is bad. One quick test is to try the horn. If the horn does not work, it is the clock spring that needs to be repaired!
If the horn works, you will need to have a computer scan of the airbag system to see where the problem is.

Not to give you the "willies" after having just bought the car, but is possible that the car has been previously wrecked in minor form in the front and the folks that repaired it didn't replace the airbag sensors. Notice if the paint doesn't match, or if front has been repainted, and if the steeringwheel middle section where the airbag is looks different in tone or color from the rest. These sensors are behind the bumper area in the front and when in a collision, even a minor one they either trip the airbag, or get smashed themselves as well and if not replaced after the repair the light stays on. We used to see this all the time buying cars from the auctions at used car lots where I worked. . I wouldhave somebody in the know on body work check this out so you can find out if this is true. If not wrecked and repaired then as others have mentioned is usually a very minor problem as the sensors can go bad on their own or the contacts in the steering column, etc. The light is simply telling you that the airbag system is non-functional for some reason electrically related and that if you are in an accident it is not going to deploy. This can also affect your insurance coverage as your agent is supposed to be notified if you continue to drive a vehicle with a non-functioning airbag system when it is supposed to be a car with one. The big problem this could cause is if you or somebody in your car was seriously injured in an accident that would have otherwise been less injury with a good airbag system the insurance company has an out not to pay if their investigators can prove that the system was bad all along. You can believe that they check this stuff out if lawsuits and medical bills are involved. Just a word to the wise. :-)

2 things to have checked. Have the computer checked or even possibly reset it yourself by disconnecting the battery positive cable for ten minutes. if it doesnt go out then have it checked. could possibly be the clock spring ( a piece that activates the airbags) or the computer. And check the history of the car to see if it has been wrecked. but more than likely computer is going bad or the clock spring. I have seen more troubles come from clock springs on all types of vehicles. hope this helps. good luck

take it to where you bought it and have them check it out as there might be something wrong with the airbag sensors, you don't want to wait until you are in a wreck or be driving down the road and have the airbag go off for no reason, and don't let them just disable the light in the dash, make them tell you what they actually found that was causing the light to come on and being a woman they might try pulling the wool over your eyes.

It's probably just a censor that went out and needs to be replaced. I would take it to any Dodge dealership and they can fix it for you or at least tell you where to take it or what to do...but I'm pretty sure they can fix it for you there for a small fee. Good luck!

its got a bad sensor on it,,i own a repair shop, and these have a tendency to go bad,it doesn't mean the air bag is going to blow up in your face though, but you do need to have it fixed as soon as you can,it might interfere with it working right in the event of an accident,,good luck with it,have a nice x-mas.
