Because Christianity doesn't mix well with facts, logic and study.



Oops! Plus, because the Bible says not to cite facts, lol!

It's also interesting to see how many people quote Wikipedia as an authorative source. The fact that it can be edited by anyone, regardless of academic credentials, or lack thereof.

The authoritative reference for Christianity is the Bible and is purposely written in and ambiguous manner to make it possible to twist it, pretty much into anything you want, without having to reference any further material. (But you know this already)
