I have been on prednisone for a little over three years to manage an auto immune disease, I take 7 1/2 mg daily. Lately I have felt very irritable and I get angry and yell more than usual. I am normally a very easy going person, but I don't feel like myself lately, but I have also been under a lot of stress for a while. I sometimes feel like I can't control my emotions. I just wondered if anyone knows if these symptoms could be related to the drug.

Prednisone can cause irritability but as you have been on it for over 3 years l very much doubt that it's the cause of your emotional state.
May be you have a hormone imbalance, it may be worth a trip to the Doctor and have it checked out.
Good luck

Yes, prednisone can cause behavioral changes including psychosis. I didn't believe it either until I had witnessed it before. Talk to your doctor to see if you can taper the dose and see if your problems resolve. If they do not, is there a chance you may have an underlying depressive episode or possible adjustment disorder?

Yes mood swings are one of the side effects. There are lots of side effects. Your doctor should have told you this prior to prescribing them. Ask your doctor or pharmacist.

its possible that the meds are causiing the symptoms. would you happen to have the leaflet that came with your meds or the next time that you get it filled keep the papers and read it.
