Emacs. Besides a text editor, it is a mail program, a browser, a remote terminal, a debugger, and more. And anything it doesn't do you can add yourself by writing it in elisp.

Microsoft Word because i use it to write essays and calendars and schedules! It's very helpful!!

Microsoft Word, its so simple, but as a writer, so useful.
