I push the power button on the tv and remote and nothing happens. what gives?

very common, it most likley blew the fuse inside the tv. if ur somewhat mechanicaly inclined unplug it wait 5 min for all the power to run out of tv and pull the back off the tv. then somewhere around the power cord there will be a fuse about 1/4 inch or so long pull it out and make sure u see the wire is running from one sideto the other. my guess is it is not. take it to radio shack and replace it.( about $2 doing it yourself,$200 if sent to a tech)) it is a fast blow fuse and most people throw out their tvs I grab them replace the fuse 99% of the time its the problem. what happens is it blows from power surges.....good luck

all tvs have a saftey switch kind of. it'll keep the tv off if there is a problem...that way nothing else can go wronge and create more damage.

If you do look inside the tv, be careful. I have seen SO many people trying to fix their own tv and it just makes it worse. depends on how big and old the tv is to whether it'd be worth fixing.
