If you specifically want curtains, first choose a fabric that won't compete with the stained glass for attention. By that I mean a subtle pattern or tone on tone, nothing too bold or highly patterned. Play up a colour that's in the glass if it makes sense with the other colours in the room.
Choose a rod that is light to medium scale, with decorative finials on each end. Match the finials to the pattern in the glass, eg: if it is floral, choose a curvey finial. if it is geometric, choose a more contemporary square or angular one. If you want, add the matching tie - back hardware too. ( Levelor, Kirsch or Umbra are a few names to look for when choosing co-ordinating drapery hardware )
Mount the rod just below the stained glass to leave it exposed.
Choose a curtain that has a tab top, tie top, rings or grommets to draw the eye to the line of the rod and glass. These types of hanging are less weighty looking than a rod pocket ( casing ) or a heavy pleat or gathers on hooks.
You could also go for a pleated fabric shade or a cellular fabric shade. Get one with a " top down / bottom up" feature. This means it is still mounted at the top of the window, but as well as raising it up from the bottom, the blind can be dropped down from the top all the way to the bottom sill or just to the bottom edge of the stained glass, leaving that exposed while keeping the rest of the window covered for privacy or at night. Levelor or Hunter Douglas are just 2 of the manufacturers who offer this option. If going with blinds, you can still add fabric side panels to soften the look, ( but it's not neccessary to draw them ) and avoid a valance of any kind.
Your stained glass is a attractive feature to have, so keep it emphasized as much as you can. Good luck.

If you really need some privacy in the daytime, there are nice shades that draw up from the bottom. You can pull them up to the stained glass and stop there so you never hide the stained glass. However, stained glass doesn't look great at night, so if you only need the privacy at night, go ahead with regular drapes and close it all off at night.

Oooh these windows sound gorgeous. I would use a shear swag. Take that fabric and hang it real dramatic like. Don't mask your stained glass. If you seek privacy, you could put matching shear panels as well. Buy 5 panels though to add some depth to the window.

We have a long dowel and hang large plants. Or you could put caffes bottom only under the stained glass.

I'd use sheers so as not to block the stain glass.
