I think another 500-600 years. Unless people come up with some new religion. It is clear that dark age texts wont hold up in a advanced civilization.

When mankind has a clear understanding of who they are, where they came from, and where they are going, and what their place is in the universe. Then all the questions that religion tries to answer, will have the answer, and they will no longer be needed.

Most who say they have none, have just replaced traditional religion with something else. Religion fills a need in the human psyche, with Deity answering as an Archetype from the collective. Much like hunger, of all kinds, the need must be filled, and it will be filled.

I think there will be a paradigm shift within the next 25-50 years. I think we as a society will reach a point when religious extremism will cause a majority of people to begin questioning the very validity of religious belief. It's usefulness in the modern age is nil. It's just going to take a little while for people to realize it.

Religions will end - when the human race does.

Being more advanced - and understanding MORE about the world around you - does NOT make a TREE less a TREE.

That's pure speculation. Who knows? The problem is that religion may destroy civilization before it can destroy itself.

I think many religions will fade out in time, but Christianity will be around forever. Christianity was around from the beginning of time, so I don't think its going anywhere.
