I am 13 year old boy and I am a basketball player at my school. I began to work with a set of 5kg dumbells to improve my strength. I researched on internet in excersices to improve leg strength (to jump higher) so I began to work with the set of 5kg dumbells and I began to do lunges and squats. The problem is that the next day I made 4 sets of 15 reps of lunge, my upper gluteus began to hurt. What do you suggest? Will it stunt my growth? Will I grow improperly? Will I stop growing? Please help!?!?

It sounds like you are just sore from using muscles that you don't normally use. Give it a few days and keep exercising; it'll pay off. Do make sure that whatever exercise you ARE doing, you are doing it correctly -- you don't want to seriously hurt yourself.

You are using muscles that haven't been exercised much before. They will gradually toughen up and relax. The old saying no pain no gain is not exactly true. You should only exercise to the point of pain. Once you feel pain your body is telling you it is time to stop. The next time you try the same exercise, you might be a little bit sore, back off just a little and try to advance at a slower rate. The main thing is to exercise regularly at a rate that gets your heart pumping a little faster and stretches those muscles a little bit. As you continue, you will find you can do more without pain. Don't try to overdo all at once or you can do damage to muscles and nerves.
