Tomorrow I might be entering a downhill skiing race, slalom style, which is free for all to enter so long as they have a lift ticket for the resort I go to (I have a season pass.) The event is called the Mountain Dew Verticle Challenge. I'm 17, and will be skiing with other 15-17 year olds. I can ski the run in question in a full tuck straight down without a problem, but I've never skied gates before and have had no racing instruction. What do you suppose my chances are?

it depends on if the other racers have experiance racing. I wouldn't worry about trying to win just have fun and do your best. If racing is something you are interested in then look into getting on a school race team or race clubs of some sort. Skiing gates is a lot more tricky than you would think but it is fun as hell. I grew up racing and did it for a long freakin time. good luck have fun

well i talked to a racer today and he says that if u have a skin tight suit it takes off alot of time but they're very expensive so unless u have one of those i wouldn't race and u have to have tuned racing skis. he said unless u have that u wont have a chance at winning.
but if u have all that i'd race and u might win but if ur planning on racing more id do it for sure so u get used to racing and u probably will have a blast so yay if u have the equipment id do

It particularly relies upon on what style of snowboarding you desire to focus on. however the terrific suggestion is to circulate to the place the skiers are important. you're important at your community mountain, yet in simple terms standard at different inns. for example, while you're capturing for large mountain form, head to Jackson hollow, WY, Salt Lake city, UT, or Whistler/Blackcomb in Canada. Getting backed isn't in simple terms a type, it must be deserved. some ski companies, consisting of Line skis, request that potentials deliver in movies to tutor off their know-how.

Im a racer. Im not in that race, but your screwed. You need racing skis, they make you go faster. You need a skin tight suit to make you go faster as well. You also need to know how to hit gates. All in all if even one kid is a racer, your ******.
