First of all what kind of car does your friend have that goes 178mph. From what I have heard the cops usually radio ahead for spike strips to blow out the tires of the car. Then once they catch the person they take them straight to jail. From what I have heard if you are going 30mph over the speed limit you are liable to end up in jail. My question is if you weren't in the car how do you know your friend is telling the truth as I don't think cops would just flash their light at you and let you go if you were driving that fast as you are considered driving recklessly and endangering other drivers.

the officers on the ground probably won't...but the ones in the air sure will. Our Air1 helicopter has yet to lose a perp....of course at 178 mph it is more likely that we will hang back and wait for the person to crash or run out of gas. The helicopter has even followed someone home and directed squad cars to the house where we once arrested someone. Save the speeding for the racetrack...anything above 20 miles over the limit is a felony...who needs it?

That is not true. It probably depends on the cop, if he thinks he can catch you, and how recklessly you are driving. I know in New Jersey the police have corvettes and other fast cars specifically to catch people like your friend and they are men so you know they are dying to see how fast they can get those cars to go. My advice? Be careful and don't believe everything you hear. Good Luck

The cop who does the radar on you will definitely try to catch you. Afterall, they are hired to do this, and the hiring process tries to pick only those who love 'competition'. (Trust me, I know!) So it's you against that cop, and whoever he or she radios ahead to. My advise? Don't play this game with the police. Someone totally innocent could die. Peace out.

Sometimes they will go after you but I will be careful because they can put in photo radar and catch yo speeding. The cameras are good up to 195 mph.

That's ridiculous, and your friend is lucky that he isn't DEAD.
And if he had gotten stopped, he would have been arrested for going 100 miles over the speed limit....it's called reckless driving.

That's honestly absolutely ridiculous. One, that your friend was driving 178 and is still alive. And two, if a officer sees someone driving like that they are apt to shoot them.
Feel free to try it though.
