I want to go on a trip somewhere we both have never been. I am in California and if anyone has some inexpensive ideas that would be cool. I was thinking Hawaii. I am getting somewhere around $2,500 from my grandma's inheritance.

Hawaii is beautiful but pretty expensive. I don't know how far $2500 bucks would get you - especially if you wanted to stay in a nice hotel. The most bang for your buck will be in Mexico - you can go on a nice cruise, see the sights, have money to spend, etc - and not break the bank.
You could also fly into a place like Acapulco for cheap and explore the Mayan ruins - all very beautiful and the exchange rate is very nice. Keep in mind that after January you will both need passports to get back into America.

Do an Alaskan Cruise. Holland America and Carnival should be available for around $2500 for both of you.
