Miracle, our 4 month old Shih Tzu (Toy dog) got her rabies shot at the vets today, We have had her just for a couple weeks and this is our first time havving a dog.
She's lost internest in eating, playing with her toys, and even going outside! She never would turn down a run in the backyard away!
She's feeling realy warm, and we think she has a fever...
She's just huddled up in her dog bed and hasn't moved for awhile, witch is getting me worried.
I would ask my vet, but the've already closed...

Call for an emergency, sometimes dogs get allergic reactions to shots, like we sometimes do to flu shots. I've heard that allergic reactions can be fatal to a dog!

There are 2 sides to the debate on the harm vaccinations do to otherwise healthy animals.
1. Charles E Loops, DVM, Pittsboro, USA said: "The first thing that must change with routine vaccinations is the myth that vaccines are not harmful. Veterinarians and animal guardians have to come to realise that they are not protecting animals from disease by annual vaccinations, but in fact, are destroying the health and immune systems of these same animals they love and care for".

2.Anti rabies has aluminum phosphate ingredient and Miracle might have some reaction to it.
They should have made the dose smaller because she is little. Did you make sure that it was a qualified person who administered the shot?
Some states have mandatory rabies vaccination for pets. Some dont. If you do not travel with her and cross borders and stuff, there is no need to get her vaccinated.

A low fever and generally not doing right is a normal reaction for an animal to have following vaccinations. Keep an eye on her. Offer her food and water, but don't force it on her. If she isn't more like herself tomorrow morning, give the vet a call. Your vet should have told you this is a normal thing, so you would expect it.

Page the vet immediately or take himto another vet. My cat had a reaction to a shot, by the time I got him to the vet (the next day) he had a temp of 106. They had to give him a steroid and I had to wet his paws down every hour til he was better. Now he has to have a shot of prednisone each time he gets his boosters. In the meantime try to get him to drink cool water. But call a vet!

One of my cats had a bad reaction to vaccinations too and I brought her to the vet and they gave her a shot of prednisone and some IV fluids. She responded quickly. She had the same symptoms, fever ,no appetite, and very lethargic.Someone on here said that dogs can have a fatal reaction,I dont know but to be safe I would try to find an emergency clinic.GOOD LUCK

Find the after hours vet emergency number and keep it close by. If your dog starts to vomit, call the number immediately. If the dog has hives or patches of skin that are swelled and red call the number. If the dog has difficulty breathing, call the number. Finally, trust your instincts, if you think you should call the vet, do it. Did she have other shots with her rabies shot? Our dog has to have his shots separate or he will have a reaction which is vomiting and diahrrea and lethargy.

Sometimes it tends to make them slightly sick. I've seen it happen. If she's not at least doing a bit better tomorrow, I'd take her to the ER. Only you know your dog. It could be an allergic reaction. I've seen that as well. I know it's a reaction to the shot, but it's hard telling what kind. I'd see how she was tomorrow and go from there.
