Consider yourself lucky. We pay high taxes when we buy stuff (my husband pays $4.92 for a pack of Marlboro Lights.) Yet still our police are being cut, our schools are getting less money, our fire departments are getting closed, roads are crappy, We don't see anything for those taxes they collect.. but yet the governor just have herself the biggest raise over 25 years... go figure.

The pros of paying taxes it that the Government can use it to help people.

The cons of paying taxes is that those same morons in Government is that they DON'T use it for that purpose.

The answer is TOO complex to answer!

Basically, each state has their own taxes especially sales/use tax since each state is allowed the freedom to tax their own residents but the problem arises when those states start to tax non-residents because it IS a constitutional issue.

ONLY Congress has the authority to govern commerce Between states.

Every state has their own sales/use tax laws especially those with NO income tax, in which case, those states' sales/use taxes are higher.

Even if you do NOT have to pay sales tax in one state, your state MAY have a USE tax law that states that their own residents SHOULD file and pay Use tax on those exempt items when they bring it back into their home state.

Hence, Sales and Use tax are complementary taxes!

Pros: things are, on the whole, cheaper

Cons: tax pays for public services. Less tax means less money.

I live in Canada and we get taxed 15% on almost everything we buy. So if you like to give your hard earned money to the government than taxes are for you.
