I'm almost 18 (gf 17) and we've been going out for 8 months as of today (but friends since freshman). I love her so much and she feels the same about me, but I want to show her how much I care. I had planned on maybe getting her some jewelry but I have no idea what. I want to get her something special and meaningful - if i dont screw up this could be the girl i spend the rest of my life with. Any thoughts?

Well ok if you really love her...dont buy her an engagement ring yet she's only 17 and her parents would most likely not be too happy with you. A nice necklace with a heart was always the thing that I liked. A necklace or bracelet would be a good gift for her if you want to give her jewelry. Also, girls love "romantic/creative" gifts. If you are getting jewelry make sure you know if she likes gold or silver first. Then I would either get a necklace or a bracelet. A necklace is almost better because you don't have to worry about the size like you would with a bracelet. If you are really serious you could go for a promise ring but there is another size issue. Good luck.

Jewelry is a good idea! Think about getting her a necklace with a charm of something that is important to both of you, or maybe a heart with an inscription on the back. You could also go with a "promise" ring if you are really serious about her.

You should know what to get her. Girls give hints all the time as to what the truly want. It's that whole listening thing that the are always talking about.
Jewelry is a commitment gift. Just letting you know upfront.
You caould always go the safe route and get a giftcard to her favorite store or one of those Visa or american Express giftcards.

I have the perfect gift! you can tell her how you feel by giving her a promise ring...like promising her that shes your one true love...or that you love her forever...or saying that you want to spend the rest of your life with her!...any of those would be wonderful im sure ur gf would love this..i mean you guys must have a pretty strong bond..youve been going out for 8 months! good luck!

Buy her a birthstone ring. She will like it very much. When I was 17 I bought my girlfriend a ring like this for Christmas, after dating her for 6 months. Seventeen years later we are still together and have been married for 11 years.

Best of Luck

Screw it up because you may buy the wrong Xmas present? Then just ditch the b*tch now!

If its really serious you could get her a promise ring, if its less so I would get her a pendant - necklace. Either one she will love and always thing of you when she wears it.

Before buying something, find out if she likes silver or gold best, then pick out something pretty and shiny, she'll love it, :)

Let me tell you this; if this woman is as in love as you are to her then she wouldn't give a crap what you give her as long as it came from your heart and soul. I advise you to buy her a necklace or earrings and save the ring until you're sure you're ready for marriage. Best of luck!!!
