Sounds like some people don't know a joke when they see one. Am I surprised?

'Cause they were men, willy.

Do you know what would have happened if there had been Three Wise WOMEN instead of Three Wise MEN?

The WOMEN would have:

Asked directions,

Arrived on time,

Helped deliver the baby,

Cleaned the stable,

Made a casserole, and

Brought practical gifts (like diapers!).

It wasn't exactly incense. It was frankincense and myrhh which are both dried tree saps that could've be used as medicine or perfume, including perfume to cover the odor of a corpse. It was common for a child to die before he/she reached puberty. They were just playing the odds.

Actually, this is how we know the three wise men weren't women. Women would have arrived on time, brought more practical gifts and stayed to make dinner. lol.

Seriously, the gifts they gave were so rare and precious that it would have provided for their family for many years.

Because back in those days , people did not depend on handouts. They knew what gifts were. True gifts from that era. The gifts the Wise men brought were rare and hard to come by. Special indeed. If you would have lived back then you would have understood what wonderful gifts these were.

They brought the incense and gold because it was the tradition back then and probably still is to welcome a new baby king into the world. Seems to me some people ask things like this because they still missunderstand the Bible.

Sounds like you don't understand the story. Those gifts allowed The Holy Family to escape into Egypt and avoid the murder of Herod.....Jim

They probably had food and warmth with them but not as gifts to give. By the way, they also took gold and gifts with them to give to Baby Jesus. PEACE!!!

They brought what God told them to bring, and that makes them wise and not dumb.
