I am a professional hairstylist.your wife just had a baby five months ago. this is enough time to lose alot of the baby weight .If she lost at least twenty pounds or more this will cause a temporary hair loss.also the hormones are returning to a normal state and will also cause temporary hair loss.If this continues she should get her thyroid checked.sometimes pregantcy can cause problems with this gland and can result in hair loss

It's completely hormonal. Nothing to do with the haircut. Women will lose hair & usually lots of it within 6 months of having a baby. She's lucky to not be missing patches, but don't worry, it will come back.

After the births of my 3 sons, I lost hair, no bald patches. With the birth of my daughter I lost so much hair. I had a few 2 in. by 3 in. sections of hair missing on my head.

Don't worry. It is normal. When a women has a new baby, and the baby start to has laugh everyday. At that time, the mother may has hair fall problem. After few month, this problem will solved automatically without any treatment.

Yes, it could very well be hormonal. I have Graves Disease (a thyroid disorder) When I was in the first stages of my treatment, constantly lost hair. My doctor told me that you lose hair when your hormones change.

At this point, I'm still trying to get my body back together because my hormones are stablizing.

Usually when women go through hormonal changes, protein is one of the first things that gives us problems.

Hope this helps.

It's pretty common after the birth of a child to have hair loss. She had a lot of hormones that were making her hair and nails grow a lot while she was pregnant. I've heard this phase referred to as a "crash". I wouldn't be too concerned about it as long as she is eating healthy and getting all of her vitamins and minerals. If it came out in chunks it would be a different matter.

This is to do with having recently been pregnant and given birth. It is totally normal, and it will grow back. Congratulations on the small person...may I suggest superglue to your wife when the child hits 2 and a half - I have little hair left, mostly owing to pulling it out during a small girl's extended tantrums.

Yes it is prob hormonal and assure you wife it will come back. If she worries about it could compound the problem. It happens to all women some time or another, stress usually causes it.
