I'm not sure if they have winter charters for salmon fishing, but it pays to look for one on the internet. I do know for a fact that there are winter salmon and steelhead runs on some of the rivers there, but I am not sure where you plan on fishing - if its in the sea or in fresh water, but I'll suggest to you a few charters that I looked up online. If you're in the Anchorage area, try booking Fishtale River Guides on the Little Susitna River. Their website is http://www.fish4salmon.com/ As for the Seward area, try The Fish House at http://www.thefishhouse.net/ Klutina Salmon Charters on the Klutina River also seems to be another good one. They offer king/chinook salmon charters from June through July 31st and sockeye charters from August 1st through August 31st. There website is http://www.klutinacharters.com/ Keep in mind that these charters don't just go after salmon. Many go after Arctic Char, Dolly Varden, Steelhead/Rainbow Trout, and Halibut if you're on a sea charter.

If you have experience in commercial fishing, I would think you have a huge step up on your competition. Many people see the money involved when watching the Deadliest Catch, rush out to become a fisherman, yet have no idea of how taxing the job is mentally and physically.

The State of Alaska maintains a Seafood Jobs section of their labor website:

http://labor.state.ak.us/esd_alaska_jobs/home.htm

The website also has area "Seafood Recruitment Specialists" that you can email:

Unfortunately, finding good fishing jobs is tough. If you are desperate to work in Alaska, you may have to first get work in a seafood processing plant (can be about the worst job on the planet), make some contacts, and find a hiring captain.

Good Luck!!
