Nobody knows. If somebody tells you they know for sure, they are lying.
By the way, the poles have completely melted in the past, and refrozen again. It is natural for the climate to change. Even if we are forcing a change that would not have happened naturally, it is not different than other natural changes in the past. The Earth was not damaged then and it will not be damaged now. It may disrupt out economy, but the Earth and life on it will be just fine.
