My daughter (15 months old) has halitosis and bleeding gums and tonight I noticed that the gum over one of her front teeth is pulled back and that her gums are red. I read that these symptoms are associated with gingivitis. Isn't she a little young to have this disease?

She just got over being very sick with a virus and has been to the doctor twice in the last week. When I called the doctor yesterday and told them of these new symptoms, they told me that she is just teething and to put orajel on her gums. Is bad breath ever associate with teething? She has a doctor's appointment again on Monday for a check up...I'll bring all of this up with them, I just wondered if gingivitis is a possible diagnosis.

"Gingivitis" is simply any infection of the gums and she COULD have it. She may have had a little cut or an abcess from an incoming tooth that got infected. Odor indicates infection. Have her seen by a doctor ASAP as an untreated infection can migrate to her heart muscle or damage her permanent teeth. If she goes to bed with milk in a bottle, it can cause tooth and gum disease.

I'm not sure why the people who suggested to wash baby's gums got thumbs down.

It is a good idea, even before baby gets teeth, to make a habit of cleaning her mouth with a soft washcloth on your finger. It will get her used to it before you start brushing her teeth. Now that she does have teeth, you can continue to use a cloth or you can buy a small finger brush designed for babies. It is important to keep her mouth clean after feedings. Milk has a lot of sugar in it, which just serves as food for the cavity-causing bacteria in her mouth. They eat the food and produce acid - which causes decay and inflammation or infection. And if you are putting her to bed with a bottle, plain water is best. You hear of so many children that have to have all of their teeth extracted because of baby bottle tooth decay. I'm just trying to help. =)

perchance inspect the e book elevating Vegetarian children by using Joanne Stepaniak and Vesanto Melina. this is specifically about the nutrition (food criteria and recipes) yet they conceal distinct the social stuff. i can actually say from the adventure of friends with vegan little ones that this is completely conceivable and that there is not any reason to assume that a baby will be ostracized. i understand a pair whose vegan-for the reason that-concept son is 6. he will be placing out first grade in the autumn. He made an excellent type of friends in kindergarten and he's youthful adequate that none of them understand there is a few thing different about him. at the same time as there's a celebration in the college room that comprises cupcakes, for example, his mom sends him to college with a vegan cupcake for the instructor accessible out to him. At birthday events, his mom calls the different mom and asks what she's serving. If this is pizza, she sends the newborn with a pair slices of vegan pizza. None of his little friends word this stuff. I also understand a unmarried mom with a vegetarian 12 365 days previous and a vegan 14 365 days previous (she's vegan yet she raised them with dairy using kin rigidity/lack of help - the older daughter gave it up on her own.) Their friends don't have a topic with their veg*nism. perchance because this is famous or all of them understand a collection of celebs who're veg*n. So, those ladies are not having a topic being ostracized both. i imagine a huge part of it really is protecting open communique consisting of your children so that they inform you in the journey that they listen any adverse stuff. as long as you already know what they are dealing with, you could help coach them by using it. perchance banning meat WILL make it more desirable acceptable and also you may only must be open to the concept, at some age you deem adequate, they are going to must be allowed to make their very own judgements. The 12 365 days previous above has tried chicken at her grandparents' living house. She became curious and her mom felt like she became previous adequate to make your innovations up that for herself. So she tried it, concept it became rather gross, and that became that. No damage performed. (deviousfaerie, perchance you've under no circumstances had reliable vegan candies, yet I assure you, if everybody youthful or previous tried my warm chocolate cupcakes, they'd no understand there became some thing "different" about them!)

she might. Why don't you wipe her gums down with a soft baby wash cloth with a dot of baby tootpaste on it to clean her gums.
I do not have children, but I would think that they have baby toothpaste and stuff like that.

She has an infection in her mouth but it probably is not gingivitis

There are pediatric dentists who specialize in young children, please take her there as soon as possible - you know that has to hurt and how can she eat?
