What your missing is that its not the Immigration issue, its the Illegal Immigration issue. Do you know that 29 percent of federal prisoners are illegal immigrants, 19+ hospitals have closed just in California because illegals get emergency medical care and don't pay the bill. Don't confuse legal immigration with illegal immigration. Its true that we are all immigrants to America, but there is a difference between people who want to come here and learn English and have respect for this country and those who just want to come here and abuse our systems. Why should i as a tax payer have to flip the bill for illegal immigrants to send their kids to schools. I know some cool *** people who are illegal but theres gotta be some sort of control. You can't just let people who are uneducated (often in their own languages) just flood into America. You have to understand with all those people you are also getting murderers, rapists, drug dealers, gangsters, thief's and every other form of criminal. They say that there is 20 million illegal immigrants in the United States. If 29 percent of federal prisoners are illegal, can you imagine how many out of that 20 million are doing this country harm. We have to stop illegal immigration and make the process easier for more legal immigration.

1. Unless you were born in another country, you're not an immigrant. You may be decended from immigrants, but you're not an immigrant.
2. Most of our ancestors either came according to the laws of the nation, or by conquering. Illegals are doing neither now.
3. Until the last 100 years or so, there was no such thing as welfare, or food stamps, or social security. You either worked and bought whatever you could afford, or you hoped individuals were generous enough to give money. Now you can get tons of stuff free from the government.

EDIT: "exactly.
and asking for permission to come in is a relatively modern idea."

Yes, but in the old days, if you tried to move into someone else's territory, it usually ended up with them killing you, or you killing them. Should we go back to that method?

In respnse to a poster. If they are all on welfare and free housing why do they need false SS #s. The illegals rounded up at the 6 meat plants all had this type of SS# s.
WE know the difference in legal and illegal. We know what an immigrant is.It has all been discussed for over 3 months.
I do not care if they are legal or illegal. The majority are here to work.

We have no problem with LEGAL immigration, because it is limited to protect our economic base. Illegal immigration brings a flood of people who are uneducated, unskilled, and criminal in many cases, who end up with very low-paying jobs and no benefits, so they also end up on our welfare system, etc. If someone is desperate enough to survive, they may also commit crimes, which is a drain on our society.

Legal immigration is good. You need employment, skills, education, etc. and can live as a self-providing member of society in America.

I'm not an immigrant. I was descended from immigrants, and Native American blood.

Americans do not have a probem with immigration. We have a problem with ILLEGAL immigration!!
Yes, Americans have ancestors from other countries. What you are failing to understand is that they, unlike illegal immigrants, became US Citizens!!!!
Again, Americans have a problem with ILLEGAL Immigration!!!

The big deal is illegal immigration. All of the illegals and pro-illegals, seem to leave that word out.
