Haha.. Welcome to my world! I have 5 that scaled up and down my live tree daily. A little of anything that has a strong, offensive-to-cats odor at the base of the tree will keep them away. I took a sheet of aluminum foil and place it under the tree skirt, rubbed a bit of a lemon half (the skin side) on the bark at the base of the tree and they have avoided it like the plague ever since. Hope his helps you have a purrfect Christmas!

Since you didn't provide many details, I can't really answer your question very well, but I'll try. If you mean that your cat is drinking out of the water dish, try blocking it with presents and other items, but move them out of the way when you water it. If you mean the cat is actually climbing the tree, then you may have to block off the truck, if that is how it's getting up. Again, try putting presents around the base and maybe even some wire over them so climbing over them isn't possible. If you mean it's just sitting under the tree, there's no harm in that except maybe knocking over presents.

cats love Christmas trees. There is no real way to keep trees safe SO anchor tree and hope for the best. Or do like I do, get a small fake tree and put it out of kitty's reach.

We just bought our tree today and set it up in an extra strong and stable stand. Tomorrow the lights will go on, once the branches have fluffed out a not.
I was really surprised that both of our kittens watched up put it up, but with little interest. The male was much more concerned about finding some trouble to get into in the garage. The female went out and hasn't come back yet.

You got to admit a tree in the house is extremely exciting for a cat! Undoubtable your cat thinks it was put there just for him. You can try stacking the presents in away that makes it tough for him to get in there. You can find a plastic or paper tree skirt that makes a crinkling noise...cats don't like the sound. A squirt gun also works to train your cat to keep away from things.

Take a spray bottle of water and every time it goes near the tree give it a good spray and a firm no. It will get the hint after awhile.
This is what works for me.
Good luck and Merry xmas.

Barriers won't help because the cats will jump or climb over them.

Cats hate stickiness, so putting some double-sided tape on your tree skirt may help. However, it could stick to your presents as well!

Aluminum foil may discourage them. Cats dislike citrus smells, so an orange or lemon scent should keep your lap lions at bay.

Probably the best thing to do is to put a little barrier around the tree, some kind of fencing. If the cat can't get to the tree, he can't climb it lol.

You can get an organic spray at the pet store or you can spray sour apple flavoring around your tree my cat hates it and will not go near anything that I spray with it the dogs ether.

Put orange peel all around your tree (complete circle, no gaps). Cats don't like the smell and they usually back off. It works even better if you squeeze the peel so it can release some juice.
