Hi, the most obvious thing NOT to do as someone has suggested is tap her on the nose! I'm not even going to go into why not as it IS obvious.
My young GSD does it as well usually when my 2 sons come to visit. The best thing your visitors can do is actually to completely ignore her when they first arrive, then when she is calm they can speak to her. What we have to do, if we have just come in, is not speak to Phoebe (my b1tch), we walk straight past her and open the back door, she goes into the garden has a wee and then we give the usual praise and she is ok, if you only have 1 or 2 visitors coming then you can do this, if you have loads of visitors coming for Christmas it will be more difficult and possibly not the best of times to begin this training, What your dog is doing is actually quite a compliment as she is welcoming 'long lost' family members back to the 'pack', it's what wolves do.

Just be patient and try an keep her calm, silly statement I know, its just down to them, the vast majority will stop in time some never do. Even dog's that have'nt for years can still get over excited.
How old is she?
Is she's young you have a much better chance, you must be assertive of her behaviour though an put your foot down. That does'nt mean get mad or anything, but control is a learnt behaviour.

Try removing her from the first instance of greeting people, they can sense the excitement. Then slowly introduce her, if she's to excited then remove her again an just keep repeating this behaviour.

I'm afraid you really can't teach her not to do that, the only thing that can be done is to take precautions such as having her greet a visitor down the path rather than indoors,
that way she won't urinate on carpets etc.

It is a common occurrence in alot of female dogs regardless of breed!

By the way i have a cross Labrador/collie and she does the same thing!

My dog had the same problem. She fortunately grew out of it. We use to leave her to calm down in another room when guests come round, then once she does the visitors must not excite her just acknowledge her and she should not pee herself anymore. This is just an occurance in younger dogs who upon excitement pee themselves.

a tap on the nose as it pees, it is probably the correct way. Associate a small pain with the peeing.

it sounds cruel, but it is very dog-logical. She can still be happy, but learn not to be so excited - as to pee

You should also ask friends and family - to ignore her completely, she will settle in very quickly

its simply a sign of submission. She should grow out of it when she gets confidence.
