Usually you have to take residence within 30 days of moving to a new state. You have to check as some universities require 6 months of residency, some a year. When you take up residency in a new state as in your case, you are automatically an out of state student.

Good answer above... best thing to do is check the institution to see what their specific requirements are. I made an out of state move last year and the colleges over here have their in state resident as 1 year as a state/county resident.

Hi Love,

Most want you to reside in the state for a year and prove that you are a resident. Proof? Are you a registered voter in your new state. Do you have a drivers license in your new state? Are you filing new state or old state tax returns. My university did ask for this info when I moved. The first year, I paid thru the nose. Afterwards, it was all down hill. Contact them NOW before you make the move.

I moved to Florida for school and I know you had to live in state for 12 months before qualifying for the lower tuition. They may differ for other states - never hurts just to call the school and ask the question, they will normally be more than happy to explain the policy

maximum state universities require you to have been a resident of that state for 6 months. in case you had to circulate to an out of state college, all you are able to ought to do is stay off campus for 6 months and pay the out of state training in this time. as quickly as you have lived off campus for 6 months you are able to prepare as a state resident and pay the in state training for that college.
