Acts alone don't make you a Christian. When you accept Christ as your Savior it makes an internal change in the kind of person you are. Christ transforms you, makes you a better person. I can honestly say that I am a better person now than I was a year ago. It is a continual growth process. The acts I do now are for God's glory not mine or anyone else.

Being born again by the Holy Spirit makes a person a true Christian as opposed to someone who has merely made a "profession" of faith in the gospel message.
Rom 8:9-11 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. (10) But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. (11) If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
1 Corinthians 12:13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--Jews or Greeks, slaves or free--and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
Anyone who is "born again" will do the good works that are evidence of true faith.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
James 2:26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

The question is WHO makes you a Christian, the answer is God. He does this by giving you a second (spiritual) birth when you repent and trust Christ.
He forgives your sins, seals you with His Spirit, and baptizes you into the Body of Christ.
He does this all in response to our faith alone, in Christ alone.

You become a child of God through faith in Christ. You show the signs of that birth thru the way you live your life. A good tree bring forth good fruit. Normally a bad tree bring forth nothing... Jim

actively participation in the kingdom of God. Not just coming to church or believing in the messiah, but seeking to improve the Body of Christ as a whole, through study, prayer, and correction. but that all comes in time.
