My son is 5 months
I was told at 4 1/2 months i could start baby cereal mixed with water or formula or breastmilk. I was told now at 5 months he can have stage 2 foods (baby jars of food) And to start with bland stuff and move on just pay attention to how he handles it.. that is just what I was told thought i would share:)

I personally started my daughter, on cereal a little younger than normal (around 3-4 months) just because she wasn't content between her bottles. Once I started giving her the cereal she was a much happier baby. Around 5 months I introduced small amounts (a couple spoonfuls) of bland (carrots, peas)vegetables, and a small amount of fruits, she preferred pears.
It's your choice whether you prefer store brand baby food, or to make your own. There are pros and cons for each. Store bought is convenient, but obviously not the same as home made. Use whatever works the best for you and your baby.
Some foods to avoid for various health reasons are: eggs, cow's milk, citrus fruits and juices, and honey until after a baby's first birthday. Fish and seafood, peanuts and peanut butter, and tree nuts are also considered allergenic for infants, and shouldn't be given until after the child is 2 or 3 years old, depending on whether the child is at higher risk for developing food allergies.
All the best! Good Luck!!

OK, do NOT chew up your food and give it to her. Aside from being gross, most of the food we as adults eat has a lot of additives that she does not need and probably can't tolerate.
Start her on some Gerber Rice cereal. She'll probably only eat a spoonful or two at first, but quickly work her way up. You can make it with water, formula, or juice to change the taste a little bit.
When she's comfortable with cereal, you can start her on vegetables. Gerber's baby food is numbered to help you know where to start. Start with step 1 and work your way up.
If you're still unsure, check with your pediatrician.

Go to babycenter.com and type in "solids" in search and there should be an article on this very question. I personally started with rice cereal because it's pretty bland and has few allergens. The process should go cereals then fruits and veggies and then meats. They pretty much eat mashed/jared baby food until a year old. You want to gradually introduce new things but be wary of the stuff that is known to cause allergies like strawberries, citrus fruits, honey, peanut butter etc.

i personally started my daughter on baby cereal at about 4 months. when she started to eat that ok and acted like she wanted more i added in a jar of baby food giving her a little at a time. at about 6-7 months she was eating babyfood 2-3 times a day and she was eating 2 jars of stage one. know she is almost a year old and eating normal food know. one thing they told me too was too try one kind of food at a time and try a couple times in a row. so that way they got used to eat. my daughter absolutely loved sweet potatoes and so didn't my nephew. so you might want to try that. good luck. it was fun getting my daughter to eat baby food she got it all over and looked so cute covered in baby food.

whatever you eat just chew it up and put it in her mouth it works.
depending on how old she is blend some cooked pumkin up and cook it in some beef stock to give it flavour and then blend it.
