Not very in my experience. There were people with cases the size of small cars getting on. I think you can push the limit a bit so long as y ou cab carry it and it will fit in the the overhead lockers.

Most low cost carrier make up profit by charging for the smallest amount of excess baggage/luggage/weight.
You may be lucky if the plane is not fully booked - but I doubt it.

Its no longer a cardboard cutout, its a steel basket and specific they'll verify your bags length so in the adventure that your bags does not slot in, then you definitely will would desire to pay £30 to place your bags interior the carry. EDIT: No there are no longer any cardboard ones. in basic terms the steel ones :-)
