I think it's a trap. Accept everything, negative and positive, for the best result.

It means a person who tries to do the following:
- look at the positive side of things when events happen;
- focus on and remember the great things that might happen with an event or scenario... don't think of the negative things.
- don't dwell on the negative sides of things even when you do realize that they exist. Note them and them put them out of your mind.
- count your blessings whatever they may be (it is often good to create a list of these good things - for example, you may not love your job, BUT at least you do have a job and can look around for another one! Things would be worse without any job if you have financial commitments)
- Remember that life may be "short" but it is long enough that bad things/times do not last... good things are coming!

In review, there are events, occurances, happenings and even people in our lives that we must assign thoughts to... you have a choice: you can assign negative thoughts to them or you can assign positive thoughts to them. There are definitely no shortage of either type of thought about pretty much all things!
Assigning negatives to them will make thoughts about these things to make you feel down, depressed, unhappy, and agitated. If you assign positive thoughts to them, then you will feel better when you think about them, etc!
Since your mood is defined by how you think about these things, assigning positive thoughts is a far superior way to live your life! This is a lesson we all need to remember and try and focus on all of our lives!

For example... did your boyfriend / girlfriend just break up with you? You can be really sad and miss them or you can think "Well, why would I want to be with someone who doesn't want to be with me 100% and every bit as much as I want to be with them? So forget them... there are better people out there just waiting to meet me and I'm really looking forward to meeting them!"

Changing your thought processes to predominantly positive thoughts is no easy task... try and spend a few minutes every day to think about things and then think about the positive sides of them!
While you are doing this, I will also be doing it! I too have focused on the negatives too much in recent memory... and I am trying to change my thoughts too, so I can better realize the positives of my existence in all my pursuits!

Good luck... keep working... never give up! ;-)
