As far as I know, there are no health risks associated with long term use of whey protein, unless you are lactose intolerant or it's taken in huge amounts. It's a naturally occuring substance derived from milk when making cheese.

Also, most protein supplements contain lots of vitamins and minerals that are also good for you. If the protein supplement contains anything extra or questionable, then you may want to verify the health affects of these individual ingredients.

Whey protein has lots of amino acids. They cause your pituitary gland to produce more growth hormone, and you start to feel young and energized. It's GREAT stuff for athletes. It you take it your whole life, you will look 45 years old when you are 65 years old. Sorry, but I don't know the difference between isolate and regular. I buy mine from GNC and have a nice chocolate milkshake everyday. Actually, I haven't done that for a few months, but I like to do it and will again before too long.
