okay so to answer your question, the military in the middle-east is completely about what you describe. The leader is following a training manual written by the Terrorist Muhammad and it is called Islam. This isn't radical Islam or fundemental Islam this is simply mainstrean Islam, and this teaching is what impells the Hezzbollah, Hamas, Iranians, Syrians all to have their military to be mindless, and they must do whatever is asked of them by an insane leader who is following the teaching of an insane leader.

I think you've been smoking too much weed below decks and listening to too much anti-American / anti-war propaganda. Having served in the Army I have seen some brainless goobers who would follow the orders of a talking parrot. If by insane leader you mean a leader who goes after the bad guys before the come after us and ignores all the bleeding hearts and criticism from automatons and political enemies, then you need to take a long look in the mirror and see who hasn't a mind of their own.
Yes things are getting out of hand and Iraq is a mess. Yes there are brainless oafs in the military and some of them are in leadership positions. Yes Bush has made some mistakes and probably will make more. But so what? The president is not God and doesn't have any delusion of being God. He has more than likely lied to us. Again so what? He is a politician and politicians lie no surprise there. Ever hear the phrase too many cooks spoiled the soup. Well the same concept applies to politics. Too many politicians butting in will create one hell of a mess.
There were two pieces of advice I learned from my Drill Sargent. Use your head for something other than a hat rack! And the other is if there is something happening that you don't like and can't change, tough f@$@# sh$@!$ suck it up and drive on!

YOU ARE A DISGRACE to the Navy!!
You do not have a mind because you lack BOTH the experience and knowledge to open your pie hole!
You are in a "SS" and you say, as some SA, "Chief, I think that we should do this". Give me a BREAK boy!
You should have figured it out before you took "THE OATH" and stop your whinning after the fact.
In the Navy, until you reach E-5 or E-6 you are basically an ASSET and do WHAT YOU ARE TOLD for YOUR OWN BENEFIT. You don't know S%^t from applebutter until then and would be a TOTAL LIABILITY to the TEAM!
HOOYAW!!!

The military trains a person to use his mind AND follow orders. I may not agree with the current CIC, but he is who the Country picked. When asked, this Country decicided to fight. I believe our men and women in uniform are there for our Country, not a temporary leader.
When I was in uniform, there was no cause more geniune than the wishes of my Country.
I notice you say X-Navy, X as in divorced.

Navy? What does that have to do with the military. I sure have one and I did 21 years. Got a PHD owned a business. But then it was not the Navy I was in. Too bad you could not qualify for the Coast Guard.

What was it you were asked to do? I'm sitting here thinking about all the Navy folks I ran across in the IZ and can't think of one thing related to their job that their CO could tell them to do that would fall into the category "insane". My guess you were one of those few that took the majority of your commander's time as always seems to be the case.

"Genuine cause:" thank god your "x" navy. I'm guessing by your insane question that you believe in a military without a chain of command or orders. WOW - what an effective military that would be.
I guess each individual soldier would have to decide for themselves whether to obey each and every order.
Can you imagine all of the Soldiers about to storm Normandy refuse to board the boats because they didn't believe that was a "genuine cause." WWII would have went well, no?
I believe I speak for most of America, thank you for leaving (or getting booted) from military service.

So what is your question. Do you want us to say that you're right. Well I can't do that because I do think for myself and I've been doing it for the whole time i've been in the Navy.
