The three dimensions of a rectangular solid have lengths of 32, 36 and 48. find the length of a main diagonal of the rectangular solid.

Find the diagonal of any side, using two of the three dimensions to calculate the hypotenuse. Then, use that diagonal with the unused dimension to find the hypotenuse, which is the "main" diagonal. Note that all 4 diagonals of the solid are the same length.

In a dice of part length s the face diagonal, d, say, is srt2 and d^2 = 2s^2. Now, if we label the significant diagonal (nook to nook) of the dice D,say, then D^2 = s^2 + d^2 = 3s^2 and D = srt3. So a one meter dice has a significant diagonal of (rt3) m., approx = a million.73205 m.
