I did not see any real answers to your question so I thought I would take a stab at it.
I will not tell you it was a reflection of those times. But, rather rules guiding us for when we did and if we ever do own anyone again. Jesus also said that Moses gave the Israelites the divorce because of their hard hearts. The same could be said for slavery. IF you own them you best treat them well and with care. I could site sources but you could easily search that in www.biblegateway.com.
Black people seem to think they have a niche on the slavery issue, but all races and all colors have owned and have been sold into slavery. Even among the tribes of Africa the practice was common. Racism too is not exclusive to the Black person. All have felt the cruel sting of exclusion due to race and social standing.
One could consider slavery as a forced occupation and really when you boil things down we are all pretty much slaves in one way or another. We do not have the freedoms we think we should have. Sure, no one is killing us, raping our daughters or whiping us if we don't move fast enough. But, try not to pay taxes or your bills or show up for work. Work is work and below are some good guidlines.
Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Colossians 3:23
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,
Is slavery wrong? Yes, I believe so and the book of Philemon is a good example to go by. Paul does not wish to see Onesimus left as a slave.
Philemon
16no longer as a slave, but better than a slave, as a dear brother. He is very dear to me but even dearer to you, both as a man and as a brother in the Lord.
I might add that through slavery God has managed to redeem people that might not have ever heard the word of God. It does not excuse the act, but it shows you how God uses our evil to bring about a greater good.
Now, let us get to the gay people you mention. Several times in the New Testament it speaks ill of that lifestyle among others. We should not separate one sin as worse than another. All sin is evil and will never be outdated till the last day of judgement.
1 Corinthians 6
9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
I hope this helps in some small way.

Leviticus is a weird Bronze Age book. Pay no attention to it in deciding modern morals.

Slavery of foreigners was permitted as opposed to killing them. Homosexuality was never permitted and is still a sin.

Christians don't pay attention to ANYTHING in Leviticus except for homosexuality, because they think it's not something that tempts them.
