I slip up and say oh my god sometimes, but I try not to..just because I want to respect other people's beleifs..I personally find nothing offending about the phrase.

When using Gods name in a sinful way,it is taking his name in vain.

I don't say that, because it's taking the Lord's name in vain. Words like golly, gee, gee whiz are remnants of the Lord's name and I don't use those either.

I do, and I found it very amusing when a christian tried to tell me that this means i believe in god.

It's a social conditioning thing, like saying "flipping heck" and the like.

I also say "christ on a bike" and "bloody hell". I don't believe in either of those either.

I like it much better your way since I don't have a God.

Because I know it offends some people, and there are perfectly acceptable substitutes, I don't use it.
