It doesn't do it directly, but since fruits have a high content of fibres. It will, indirectly lead you to eating less. There is one theory, stating that taking fruits before a heavy meal helps losing weight because the fibres will take over a bigger part of the volume of the stomach. Following this, during the actual meal you would not be taking excessive amount of other food.

There is no magic in the orange or fruit that makes you lose weight, however, it is beneficial for the fibre which makes you go to the toilet and flushes your system. Drink lots of water up to 8 glasses a day, your tummy feels fuller, but do not go without meals. Eat a good breakfast of low fat dairy, piece of wholesome toast or low fat cereal with a piece of fruit, morning snack of fruit, lunch salads, chicken (without skin) or fish (tuna) and fruit and for dinner veges (steamed) jacket potato, either chicken or chick peas (full of protein) - piece of fruit. Cut out sweets, sugar (or decrease intake slowly of sugar if preferred) - sugary drinks (loads of sugar!!)- this is just an example - you can still lose weight by eating well - you are learning to eat healthy, starvation will not help. Good luck, remember to take baby steps in this and each day is a new one, don't beat yourself up if you fail, pick yourself up and keep going - reward yourself with a new item of clothing if you can afford it or do something you enjoy - like walking - helps toning. Good luck
