she says she was just playing because she got caught calling you someone else's name. she cant admit that she was thinking about him at the moment. she could have at least pretended that she was thinking the worse of him and you called out of nowhere and that's how it came out, but no.

i would be offended of course. ive been called my fiance's ex-wife's name once and i felt a little bit hurt. i had to realize that it happens, it doesnt change the fact that i love him or that he loves me.

it was a mistake. i would be more pissed off that she had to lie about messing around or not.

I don't think she knew it was you. Any girl with any brains knows better than to call her current boyfriend by an ex's name. How would she like it if you did that? I'll tell you, she would rip you a new one. Why did she call you by her ex's name? Well how long ago did they break up? Were they together a really long time? Have you two been, um, having disagreements lately? Could be lot's of little reasons. Once or twice I would forgive, if you really like her. Try to calmly talk to her about it. Communication in a relationship is important. But If she can't focus on you and your future with her, well I would break it off. You can't compete with a ghost.

There's probably a bit of truth in there--it's not as dire as you think.

A) Sometimes we just say the wrong name--period. The human brain jumps tracks, upon occasion--you can draw a blank on the name of someone you've known for years. Likewise, you can say "Bob" when you mean "David". It just happens. It's embarssing when it happens, though--and sometimes we try to cover by playing it off like 'Oh, I /meant/ to do that... heh...'

B) Even if your gf DID think you were the ex, does that necessarily mean you should jump to the worst conclusion? I don't think so. The ability to remain friends with an ex can indicate that your gf is pretty emotionally healthy and mature--AND that she's totally over him. Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to deal.

Best wishes,

Gal

I honestly think you gotta go with either ones of these three. If a girl calls you by her ex's name she's either still talking to him, still just thinking of him or she simply said it just to get you jealous. Unfortunately, you're the only one that could some how know that because you're the one that knows her. If not, then you got some investigating work to do, so you'll either just let it go or get to the bottom of it. Take it from a girl! I've mentioned my ex's name for all the above reasons. GOOD LUCK!!

to be honest, she's might be lying, I have done that before. I said the same thing, and I was lying. I was very dumb to do so. everyone makes mistakes. She may not be lying, it could have honestly been a joke. Talk to her and tell her your feelings, and after the talk just let it go... the past will be the past, let it stay there..

but she could honestly have known, what matters is what YOU think, not everyone else. Did she sound really suprised?? good luck

I'd think she's crazy and still interested in her old boyfriend. I'd leave the relationship. You don't just scream your ex's name and say you're playing!

I would've feigned deafness or continued on with the conversation so as not to give her a rise, which she obviously was looking for.
