with giving hugs to one another? I am a very affectionate person and I often give hugs to loved ones or friends, past co-workers I use to work with etc... Well a rumor went around stating I was "gay" because I am so affectionate. Or I'm only nice because I try to use people. I have a lot, and I don't need to use anyone. If anything I'm always giving. I know how it feels to get used so why would I use someone? What is wrong with people's mentality? especially other women? Are they so use to getting hurt by people when someone genuine like me comes around they put up a wall? I don't get it.

The people that i've hugged, we were friends for a good while before i started to hug them so of course i don't just walk up to strangers and grab them that's insane. I know better than that. But thanks for the feedback.

With all due respect please by all means continue doing what your doing regardless what other people may say. To me it sounds like jealousy. Your giving a part of you to people by giving hugs. Your showing them appreciation and you also acknowledging them that you care. There is nothing wrong with that. But the main aspect in that is at least you are giving something. More that the other people are giving. You should be proud of yourself for giving the way that you do!!! Keep up the good deed that you do. Don't let people discourage you in any way. If there were more people like you in this world, the world would be a better place. I'm very grateful that there are people like you still out there in this world. Thank you!!

its only human nature to mistrust others, thats how the human race has survived thus far. a genuine affection for others seems to be so rare that when a person like you comes along, people tend to assign a level of alterior motive on your part. the old saying goes " familiarity breeds contempt ". when you try to be overly friendly towards others, yes, they will put up a wall. i would advise you to get to know people better before you hug them. some people view this behavior as theatening on some level. no, i dont think youre wrong for loving people, just try to be a bit more compassionate for personal space.

I'm Asian American and I love giving hugs; but, most Asian adults don't like hugs and their excuse is that "Asians don't like physical contact." I lived in a Jewish Community growing up and people would hug me or I would hug others and I loved being in that kind of affectionate atmosphere. What I'm trying to say is that it might have to do with the culture of the people who don't like hugs. Anyways, I'm glad to read that you love hugs as much as me. Hug away.

mmm I know how you feel. People are jealous you have joy. Do no let them take your joy away from you. You are the kind of person "real" people love to be around. It is considered inappropriate conduct unless the person receiving the hug feels it is appropriate.
The Equal Rights movement for women has probably been the leading hindrance to this form of affection, as it brought about strict enforcement of sexual harassment.
As for men, due to the increase in homosexual agenda in the media, most men probably find it demeaning to their male persona.

You aren't doing anything wrong.
it's the people that are spreading the rumors that you are gay because you like to give hugs that have the issues.
People just aren't use to people being affectionate with each other with it out being sexual. So they might be assuming that your affection might be you making passes at other people.

I don't think there is anything wrong in showing affection , but there are always those who find fault in it.
In this day and age people are really supicious about giving hugs or showing thier feeling , it should not be that way, but thats just the way it is..
just be yourself and if others are offended stay away from them,

Some people aren't brought up showing affection and when someone comes along who doesn't have that problem, they are uncomfortable. It's easier to be mean and nasty than to look into themselves and realize they're the ones with the problem, not you. Keep hugging.
