so a girl and i met, based on our love for poetry, hung out, had feelings but she chose to be with someone else, bc she knows him better and i am moving 8 hours away. we agreed to be friends but then she told me something really scary that is happening to her, so i was worried and did two things: sent her the following poem and found her on campus just to hug her. to me, those things were done as a friend but the line is so blurry i messed up.
how can you offer home
to a stranger unknown
with no map to find
the peaks of the mind
and valleys of the heart
where do you start
to glow and ascend
will purity transcend
when the concrete invades
and an abstraction fades
depression was a season
before she gave me reason
to keep connection
in this human collection
Now, I intellectualize
feelings that have no eyes
can a gift stay alive
can kindness still thrive
on the end of this vine
nothing to be mine
but only for once see
filtered eyes set free

well, your poem is not exactly one of cheerfulness, but it is definitely a poem of support, basically asking how you can best help her. poetry often has a way of communicating things which can't be easily said or written otherwise. (i'm quite a fan of poetry myself, both in writing and reading.) heres how i see it though: she is obviously asking you for support (she wouldn't have told you about the scary stuff if she didn't want your support or input) but she doesn't seem to be all that comfortable asking. so my advice would be to continue to be there for her so that when she is willing to ask for more assistance with the situation, you'll have already let her know that it is safe to ask you for help and that you are more than willing (and able) to help out in whatever way possible. don't press it too much, though, because she might not be ready or willing to ask for more assistance yet.

Well many times things just don't come along as we expect them too. I love the poem, and I'd be glad if a guy dedicates something like that to me. If she chose to be your friend and you agreed with it then may be that's just the way you guys are meant to be.

Just tell her you wanted to have her feel good about herself. I'm not sure if you went over the line or not. Don't sound like you did yet.

Sounds like a rap song dude. Go back to school and learn english proper and study.

If you want to be a poet, go to poet's school.
