Dont use Q-tips or cotton buds - if you have lots of wax then warm water should do the trick. Leave your head under water in the bath. That is, if your mum was looking for wax?
On the other hand, it could be she can't see anythiing becuase there's nothing in there! but if that was the case she'd see the light shining out the other side!

You haven't said what your problem is but whatever you do, NEVER
use cotton buds, hair grips or anything other than the end of a hanky to clean out your ears.

To be able to inspect and auscultate the ears easily she has to use an otoscope (auriscope).

I don't know but I think your mum has a great sense of humour! Do you get a very hollow sound when you tap the top of your head? don't be offended, it's just a thought.
