My daughter is six months old.. her doctor allowed me to start giving her rice cereal (plain rice cereal) at four months old. On a spoon, not in a bottle. She spit it out a lot at first, so be patient. Eventually they get the hang of it :)

between 6 and 8 months. Start with rice cereal, then add fruits. Only one new food per week so that you can tell if the baby has an allergy to the new food.

I think personally when they are able to eat other soft things, if cereal is hard then let it soften up in the milk but leave out things with nuts and fruit bits etc because it could cause choking until they can eat things like that

My son had GERDs which is a baby acid reflux disease and my doctor had me give him infant cereal from the time he was a month old because the formula was to thin and he was projectile vomiting it. He did just fine with it. He is now 20 months old and starting to hit terrible twos. Always consult with your doctor before you start your baby on anything new and make sure that they are able to handle it.
