Married on April 12th, 2006 in Mexico. K3 approved, I-130 approved, affidavit of support approved...first marriage for both, and no criminal background, I am a US citizen by birth. Why is it taking so long for her interview and visa issuance? On December 12th, we hit the 8 month mark, and still waiting. If you need more information from me, please do not hesitate to email me, and thank you so much... -Shane

Not sure how K-3's are processed in Mexico, but there is no wait for a K1 interview date. A K-1 applicant can go to consulate any weekday between 8 and 10 am excluding American and Mexican holidays as long as they have received their official letter from the consulate. Maybe K-3 visa's are handled the same way? Wouldn't hurt for your wife to attempt it.

Hi, Shane,
I'm sorry to tell you that it can take years, and it often depends on which office of the INS you use. My daughter-in-law used the Orlando office, unfortunately, and waited over two years without progress. Once she switched her file to Jacksonville, her wait reduced to three months. They told her that Orlando, on average, is over a year slower! I'm surprised it hasn't been easier for you; usually when the marriage takes place abroad, it takes less time than if you got married in the US. If you get a lawyer, it may go more smoothly. My son wishes he had.

These things can take time, it all depends whether there is a backlog. You can always call up immigration and ask for the status of your application. Take care : )
